Medical Services:

Diabetes - It is important to receive yearly dilation diabetic eye examinations to monitor for bleeding that can be an indicator of larger issues. We communicate with your primary care doctor with a report that helps them know if adjustments to medication or lifestyle is needed and this helps prevent larger issues that can lead to amputations and other complications.

Plaquenil (Hydroxycloroquine) - This medication can be beneficial for certain conditions, but has been shown to cause macular toxicity so specialized testing is used to help monitor the benefits and risks. Specialized testing for this includes central Visual Field, Multi-Focal ERG, OCT, and AutoFluoresence to detect changes and communicate with your doctor to help ensure you are receiving optimal treatment.

Dry Eye Disease - This is a common condition that occurs when your tears aren't able to provide adequate tears for your eyes. There are three layers that are produced by different glands and when they begin to break down, they are unable to produce the quality of tears we need. There are many treatment options for this depending on the stage and your specific needs.

Glaucoma - This is a group of eye diseases that can cause vision loss and blindness by damaging the optic nerve fibers and other retinal changes. The symptoms can start so slowly that you may not notice them. The best way to find out if you have glaucoma is to get a comprehensive eye exam with advanced retinal imaging that includes ocular coherence tomography that can detect these very small changes.
